Renovations at Shared Services Centre nearly complete

Renovations at the Lambton Shared Services Centre are in the home stretch.

The building, at Christina and George Streets, was the only part of the former Bayside Mall that wasn't demolished.

County of Lambton Procurement and Projects Manager Rob King said the renovation experienced a few supply chain related delays.

"We're mostly complete now, just [working on] the finishing touches on the second floor," said King. "The main reception has yet to be completed and we're working on it right now and it's expected to be complete at some point in October."

King said as far as he knows, staff enjoy the new floorplan.

"Staff have been there this entire time. The first floor was occupied in March of 2022. We're still waiting for occupancy to be granted for the second floor work, but we anticipate that we'll be moving in at some point in October."

King said close to 200 employees will work out of the building.

The County of Lambton’s court services department, which has been operating at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park during construction, will be moved back downtown this fall.

Sarnia's Service Ontario location, where residents can renew drivers licences and health cards, will continue to operate from its new location at the Sarnia courthouse, at Christina Street North and Errol Road.
