Mega Job Fair coming to Lambton College

Over 85 employers from all across Ontario will be at Lambton College's Mega Job Fair on Wednesday, September 28.

College Job Developer Kyle Walker said the event will feature small businesses up to large corporations and that they'll have opportunities for part time, full time and seasonal jobs.

"And it really is a diverse event.  So we have everything from customer service, we have management positions, we have trades related positions, we have hospitality, healthcare, you name it."

The event goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lambton College Main Campus Gym.

Walker said applicants will have an opportunity to sit down and talk with employers.

"We have a variety of employers that are looking to host interviews on the spot, so people should come dressed for success and be prepared to essentially sell themselves and provide a strong interview," he said.  "[They] should also bring a resume or an application with them so that they can meet with employers and submit their application."

Walker said the job fair is a part of a weeklong event at the College.  He said from Sept. 26 to 30, job seekers will have different opportunities to engage with employers.

"Whether through employer panels where we will talk about different topics related to employment.  We also have sessions where you can learn about how to sell yourself during an interview or how to make your resume stand out," said Walker.  "And we have sessions for employers as well so that we can help them with strategies when they're navigating that recruitment period."

Walker said as a result of the pandemic, the college made a shift towards virtual job fairs.

"However, we do see that there is value to hosting in-person events. So now that it is safe to do so, we are returning to in-person events so that we can help people put that face to the name, they can shake hands and they can make that first impression so that they can increase their chances of success."
