Community feedback is being sought for the programming and design of Sarnia-Lambton's future community addictions hub.
Bluewater Health is hosting a public session to gather information from community partners and people with lived experience on Monday, September 19.
Communications and Public Affairs Chief Keith Marnoch said the session, at the Sarnia Legion on Front Street from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will be the main opportunity to offer feedback.
"This project is probably two to three years out before completion and being available to the community," said Marnoch. "Now is the time for us, as we go through the phase of the architectural design and the way that this hub will actually serve the community, now is the time for those who feel like they've got input to share it."
The centre will include a 24-bed facility, clinical space for programs, treatment and all existing Bluewater Health addiction outpatient services.
It will be located in the wing that runs along Russell Street and London Road, adjacent to Bluewater Health’s Russell Street building, which is vacant.
"It would operate independently of the hospital. Our goal with seeking input at this stage is really to try to create as good of a space as we possibly can, and a welcoming and non-clinical environment."

ROA Studio Inc., a Chatham architecture firm, was named the project's lead architect over the summer.
