Nomination period for October election closed

The candidate list is set for the October 24 municipal election. The deadline to file nomination papers and get your name on the ballot was 2 p.m. Friday.

There are two candidates running for mayor in Sarnia, including incumbent Mike Bradley. Running against him is current city councillor Nathan Colquhoun.

There are nine people running for one of four city/county councillor positions and 25 people are vying for one of four city councillor positions.

In Petrolia incumbent mayor Brad Loosely is being challenged by Richard Poore.

In Point Edward, mayor Bev Hand is seeking reelection and is running unopposed.

Three people are running for the mayor's seat in St. Clair Township, Tracy Kingston, Jeff Agar and Chad Shymko. Steve Arnold is not seeking reelection.

In Warwick Township, former mayor Todd Case is challenging incumbent Jackie Rombouts.

In Plympton-Wyoming, there will be a new mayor. Lonny Napper is not running again. Muriel Wright, Gary L. Atkinson and Tim Wilkins have all filed nomination papers for the top spot.

Bill Weber is not seeking another term as mayor in Lambton Shores. Doug Cook and Marilyn Smith will battle it out for the job.

In Brooke-Alvinston, incumbent Dave Ferguson is being challenged by James Armstrong for the mayor's seat.

In Dawn-Euphemia, incumbent mayor Alan Broad is seeking re-election.

In Enniskillen Township, incumbent mayor Kevin Marriott is running unopposed, and incumbent mayor Ian Veen is also running unchallenged in Oil Springs.
