Dog Festival returns to Sarnia

Hundreds of dogs will be celebrating the dog days of summer this Saturday in Sarnia.

The third annual Dog Festival is returning to The Fox and Hound Canine Retreat following a two-year hiatus. Money raised from the event will support the Sarnia & District Humane Society.

Fox and Hound Owner Katie Fuller said a lot is planned for the day.

"We have our dock diving pools, we'll be doing lure coursing which is a site chase event for dogs, we have an off-leash area, play zone, people can try agility in addition to watching an agility demo from agility dogs."

Fuller said the previous two events went really well.

"We've had upwards of 1,000 dogs and 2,000 people in previous years so we are excited to get the crowd out again I hope."

This is the first year Coldwell Banker Southwest Realty is taking part in the event.

Director of Marketing Karley Chamberlain said the festival highlights dog adoption and the CB Homes for Dogs project.

"As well as just bringing awareness to the need the Sarnia Humane Society has. So with Fox and the Hound, we figured that if we make it as big as possible, we can raise as much money as possible."

The event goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2437 Michigan Line in Brights Grove. Admission is $10 adults and free for kids and dogs.
