Health unit reports two COVID-19 deaths

The local death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 149.

In its latest report, Lambton Public Health (LPH) said the death toll increased by two over the last week. Both individuals were in their 80s and residents of a long-term care home.

On Wednesday, LPH reported 86 new lab-confirmed cases of the virus, for a total of 12,360 since the start of the pandemic.

There are four active outbreaks in congregate settings. The latest outbreak was reported on Monday at Fairwinds Lodge Retirement Home in Sarnia.

The health unit said the daily average number of cases over the last seven days is holding steady at around 12.

There are six COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, none of whom are in the ICU.
