Sting trade Dann to Niagara for picks

The Sarnia Sting have traded forward Nolan Dann to the Niagara Ice Dogs.

In return, the Sting are getting Kitchener’s 2023 second round selection, Oshawa’s 2025 second round pick and Niagara’s 2026 fifth round pick.

Dann, a 19-year-old Cambridge native, was selected by the Sting in the fourth round of the 2019 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection with the 68th overall pick.

Through 64 games played with the Sting during the 2021-22 regular season, his first in the OHL, the 5'10" left-shooting winger tallied 29 goals and 28 assists for a total of 57 points.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said it wasn't an easy decision to trade Dann.

"This was a tough trade to make because Nolan is a great teammate," said Seca. "However, we have some other young talented forwards that are ready to breakout and this deal will provide us with some valuable assets that can be used to upgrade the team down the stretch. We wish Nolan all the best with Niagara."

The Sarnia Sting will kick off the 2022-23 OHL regular season on Friday, September 30 in Kitchener.

The team's home opener is scheduled one week later when the Saginaw Spirit visit Progressive Auto Sales Arena on Friday, October 7.
