Around 100 appointments scheduled for pediatric COVID-vaccine

Just over 100 appointments were booked Thursday through Lambton Public Health for the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine.

Eligibility for COVID-vaccinations opened up for babies and toddlers aged six months to five years old yesterday.

The pediatric Moderna vaccine is a slightly modified, lower dose than that given to children six and up.

Appointments can also be made through participating pharmacies and primary care providers.

Lambton Public Health reported 99 new lab confirmed cases of the virus in its weekly report, for a total of 12,274 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. The death toll is unchanged at 147.

The health unit said the average daily number of cases over the last seven days has increased from 10 to 13.

There are four active outbreaks reported in congregate living settings. The most recent was declared on Monday, July 25 at a Community Living facility.

There are nine COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, none of whom are in the ICU.
