Hundreds of cyclists eager to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of Canada will pedal from Grand Bend to London this weekend.
The 32nd annual Grand Bend to London MS Bike will start at 7 a.m. Saturday from the Grand Bend Motorplex. Cyclists will then rest overnight at Western University before returning to Lambton County.
In a media release, the MS Society of Canada said over 1,000 people participate in the ride each year, as it's the second largest MS Bike in Canada and the largest in Ontario.
So far, about 68 teams and over 490 cyclists have signed up for the 150 kilometre two-day bike ride.
The goal this year is to raise $1 million. As of 12:30 p.m. Friday, over $604,000 was raised.
MS is a chronic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. On average, 12 Canadians are diagnosed with the illness every day.
