INEOS delivers generous donation to ACCESS Open Minds

INEOS Styrolution Canada Inc. has presented the new ACCESS Open Minds with a generous contribution to the youth wellness hub.

The company on Tashmoo Avenue in Sarnia donated $16,400 to support the remaining building needs of the site, which is scheduled to open at the corner of Front Street and Lochiel Street this fall.

Sarnia Site Director Brian Lucas said the donation is a reflection of the company's mission to support the wellbeing of its community members.

“We understand the challenges youth are faced with in accessing more traditional mental health services in our community,” said Lucas. "ACCESS Open Minds is such an innovative model allowing youth to access the programs and services they need in an environment in which they feel safe, comfortable, and supported. We are delighted to play a role in addressing this critical need in the Sarnia-Lambton area.”

Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton-Kent Director of Fund Development and Communications Andria Appeldoorn said they are fortunate to have INEOS as a partner.

“As a community partner, INEOS Styrolution was one of the first organizations to reach out with an offer of financial support during the early days of the pandemic," said Appeldoorn. "This most recent donation towards youth mental health is greatly appreciated and is consistent with their ongoing support.”

The new facility is expected to transform mental health and addictions care for youth ages 11-25 and their families.

It is hoped to provide a welcoming environment where young people feel comfortable reaching out for mental health and addictions support.

Mental health and addictions education, assessments, counselling and treatment will be located in one location.
