Optimist Club to host Grand Bend Beachfest

The Grand Bend Optimist Club will mark the start of summer with the return of Beachfest on Saturday.

Grand Bend Beachfest will be held on from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. on the main beach.

The event hasn't been held over the past two summers due to COVID-19.

Optimist Club member Paul Mussio said they're expecting to have three to four food vendors and about 15 drink vendors on site. In past years, there would be over 25 vendors.

"There's a lot of interest but a lot of the vendors can't get help," he said. "They can't run their store and have people come and do an event."

Aside from showcasing local craft breweries, distilleries, wineries, cideries, and restaurants, Beachfest will also feature live music.

Mussio said there will be a wide array of genres including country, rock and roll, and funk.

Money raised during the event will support local youth programs. Beachfest is the non-profit's major fundraising event.

The title sponsor for this year's event is Finch Auto Group and gold sponsors include AGM and OKE Woodsmith Building Systems.
