The Village of Point Edward is encouraging local producers to sign up for the weekly farmers' market under the Blue Water Bridge.
The Moonlight Farmers' Market will return to the area on June 9.
CAO Jim Burns said so far about eight to 10 vendors have signed up, with about six scheduled for opening day. Ideally, the village would like to have 12 to 16 vendors at the site each week.
Some of the products from current vendors include baked goods, microgreens, meat, and wine.
The evening farmers' market hasn't taken place in Point Edward over the last two years, which Burns said may be part of the problem in attracting vendors again.
"I think a lot of the vendors have either moved on to other things or they've gone to online sales so I think that's where we're struggling a little bit to get new vendors," said Burns. "Also, to be a true farmers' market, we need to have at least 50 per cent of the vendors be considered [as selling] farm products and locally grown."
Burns said several people have been waiting for the farmers' market to return and are excited about it.
"I think there's a lot of people who are looking forward to coming back so I hope we get the vendors," he said. "We understand it's going to take a little bit of time to get it back to full speed but that's our goal, is to get people back into the community and make it successful for everyone."
The farmers' market will be held every Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., until the beginning of October.
