A familiar road has been named the worst in southwestern Ontario.
Sarnia's Plank Road took the number one spot on the regional list in the Canadian Automobile Association's 2022 Worst Roads Campaign.
Assistant Vice President of Government and Community Relations for CAA South Central Ontario Teresa Di Felice said Plank Road, which is no stranger to the worst road campaign, might be on the list for the last time.
"We do see this from time to time, that while a road is under construction it is still a little bit difficult to navigate and people still want to make sure that the road gets all the attention that it needs," said Di Felice. "Plank Road has got $2.4 million in provincial and federal money for repairs, but we know it's not done yet."
Last month, Plank Road between Indian Road and McGregor Road was closed to allow for water main and road construction. Work was expected to take two months to complete.
Di Felice said tens of thousands of people voted in the annual campaign.
"We had over 3,000 roads in Ontario nominated across 182 municipalities which is pretty significant," she said. "So even if you didn't make it to the top ten worst roads for all of Ontario, but you made it to the top of you regional list, that's a pretty significant number of voters."
Four roads in Windsor rounded out the top five in the region.
