Unlock Lambton self-driving tour back on the road

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton (TSL) is giving residents the key to "unlock" Lambton.

TSL is re-launching the Unlock Lambton Self-Driving Tour on June 4 in celebration of National Tourism Week.

The event will feature 20 different sites and attractions from Grand Bend to Petrolia to St. Clair Township and Sarnia.

TSL Product Development Coordinator Beverley Horodyski said for one day only, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., admission for each site will be completely free.

"It's a fun way for families and visitors to get out in Lambton County and see attractions that have done a lot of renovations and restoration work that's new and improved and engaging," she said. "There's a little bit of arts and culture, there's some history, there's heritage stops, and then there is, of course, the waterfront and the natural beauty of Lambton County."

Horodyski said participants can go at their own pace and pick and choose what spots they want to visit. She said TSL has really spread things around.

"In the north, we have Grand Bend and Forest and Arkona, and then in central Lambton we have Petrolia and Oil Springs that are highlighted. St. Clair Township in the south -- we have Brander Park and Sombra and Moore museums. And then to finish it off in the City of Sarnia and the Village of Point Edward."

Horodyski said they'll also have some prizes up for grabs.

"Theatre tickets, spa visits, kayaking trips, axe throwing, so there's a wonderful lineup of sponsored prizes to give away as well."

The inaugural event took place in 2018 and the following year, TSL hosted the Tall Ships Festival. Horodyski said after two years of the pandemic, it's nice to bring back the Unlock Lambton event.
