Sting force game six with 3-2 overtime win against Spitfires

Brights Grove's Nolan DeGurse scored two goals, as the Sarnia Sting staved off elimination in the first round of the OHL playoffs with a 3-2 overtime win in Windsor.

The Spitfires led 1-0 at the 2:08 mark of the first period on a power play goal from Andrew Perrott assisted by Ryan Abraham and Michael Renwick.

DeGurse scored a power play goal at the 13:51 mark of the second period with assists going to Ty Voit and Ryan Mast.

Then 42 seconds later, DeGurse notched his second goal, 4-on-4, assisted by Marco Sikic and Mast.

Will Cuylie tied the game with a short handed goal for Windsor at 6:31 of the third period assisted by Wyatt Johnston and Nathan Ribau.

At 8:21 of sudden death overtime, Voit scored the game winner with helpers going to Angus MacDonell and Zach Filak.

Sarnia goalie Benjamin Gaudreau was outstanding, turning aside 43 shots while Mathias Onuska blocked 20 shots for Windsor.

The Spitfires lead the OHL first round playoff series three games to two.

Game six is set for Sunday at 7:05 p.m. at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia.
