FISH TV to film two episodes in Sarnia-Lambton

Sarnia-Lambton will be showcased on FISH TV later this year.

Host Ron James will be visiting the area with a crew, including Leo Stakos and Jeff Chisholm, from May 2 to 6.

"We are going to cover two shows, one is going to air this year, this fall, and one is going to carry over to next fall," said James. "One is going to focus on walleye fishing in the St. Clair River and one is going to focus on the Salmon Derby."

James admits he's never fished here before.

"I've been to the other end, the Detroit River, but no I have not been there (Sarnia-Lambton). I have not fished Lake Huron and I've been in business for 25 years and I'm surprised that I haven't because it's a beautiful area."

FISH TV shows average an audience of 2.5 million viewers nationwide.

"We'll mostly be out on the water. When we do a production, we start at the crack of dawn and we don't come in until dark. Any other filming that we need to do, our crew will go and how we do that is feed off of what is shot and talked about on the boat and then reflect to the footage that we have."

The 30 minute episodes will each air a total of 104 times on networks, like Global TV, OLN, Sportsman Channel Canada and Cottage Life.

"I want to promote fishing and I also want to promote it as a family destination, a place where you can take a vacation. Our show is a fishing destination show. So, basically what we do is cover the amenities that Sarnia-Lambton has to offer."

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton (TSL) Special Events and Sports Marketing Coordinator Vicky Praill said TSL will be part of the FISH TV feature booth at the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show for the next two years and will be featured on the FISH TV web site, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

"Once the shows have aired, they will also be uploaded to the FISH TV YouTube channel," Praill said. “It is truly an incredible opportunity for us to be showcasing our area on an international level."

The 46th annual Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby runs from April 29 to May 8.
