Origin Materials looking to hire

A bio-chemical manufacturing facility is hosting a job fair this week in Point Edward.

Origin Materials is looking to fill several full-time positions such as office administrator, lab technician, project engineer, logistics coordinator, and warehouse coordinator.

The job fair will be held at the Hampton Inn by Hilton at 1492 Venetian Blvd. on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and April 13 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

"Our team’s patented technology platform can turn the carbon found in sustainable wood residues into useful materials while capturing carbon in the process, working with partners including Ford Motor Company, Danone, Nestlé Waters, and PepsiCo.," said Origin Materials in a written statement to Sarnia News Today. "We’re very excited to host our upcoming job fair for our new commercial-scale facility, Origin 1."

Those who are unable to attend the job fair, are encouraged to submit an application online.

The company said the facility is on track to be completed by the end of 2022, with production to start thereafter.

"Things are advancing well and we’re very pleased as we move closer to start-up of the plant," said Origin Materials. "A number of factors encouraged us to site our first commercial-scale facility in Sarnia, with the local workforce being a key factor, offering deep experience across refining and manufacturing."

Origin Materials is based in Sacramento, California. Plans to develop a plant in Sarnia have been in the works since 2017.
