Warwick Twp. hoping to raise $2M toward East Lambton Community Complex

Construction of the East Lambton Community Complex continues in Warwick Township, and now the municipality is aiming to fundraise $2 million through community donations.

Rotary Club Member Rhonda Noll is the campaign's co-chair, alongside her husband George.

She said the new centre is something that has been needed for quite some time.

"We're hoping that the community can pull together," said Noll. "We're obviously going to ask for donations from area businesses, reaching all the way to Sarnia and maybe a little bit into Middlesex, Petrolia, Alvinston and those areas. Anyone who comes into the community or could possibly be using the facility, we're going to try and canvas."

Noll said there's also the opportunity for companies to secure naming rights to the entire building, or a portion of it, depending on their donation amount.

She said a number of organizations and citizens have already expressed interest in helping out.

The complex will feature a YMCA, a full-sized gym, walking track, meeting areas, hoteling spaces, a full commercial kitchen, free Wi-Fi and other amenities. Arena upgrades include new dressing rooms, accessible washrooms, and a new common area.

The centre replaces the aging Centennial Hall, which was built about 55 years ago.

The remainder of the $11.5 million project is being funded through community reserves. The entire project is expected to wrap up in November 2022.
