LPH lifts proof of vax at sports and rec facilities

Effective immediately, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is no longer required at local sports and recreation facilities.

In a news release, Lambton Public Health said due to recent provincial announcements and pending changes to vaccination verification, the local Letter of Instruction requiring proof of vaccination for persons entering facilities used for sport and recreational fitness activities in Lambton County is no longer in effect.

The unit says the timing coincides with key public health and health system indicators continuing to improve, and the move by the provincial government to ease public health measures.

"Some local businesses may decide to continue or slowly phase out the proof of vaccination requirement in order to support the safety of clients and staff", said the release. "Please be patient, friendly and respectful that individuals may be at different levels of comfort based on their own level of risk."

The health unit said practices including masking and screening of patrons will continue, and residents are reminded to stay home if you feel ill.
