New restaurants to open at Sarnia hospital

Two new restaurants are set to open at Bluewater Health's Sarnia site in February.

Communications and Public Affairs Chief Julia Oosterman said it's great news for the hospital.

"It's so exciting because it's local," said Oosterman. "We're working with a local provider, a local entrepreneur, and we're going to have some really phenomenal options available, not only for designated care partners, but for staff. It's really exciting."

Oosterman said both will be located in the atrium.

"There's one, like a coffee location, and that's going to be Mo'Cha Café & Bubble Tea. That's going to be opening next week hopefully, it looks like," she said. "Then a Freshii will be opening in the larger space at the back of the atrium. That will be opening, probably, at the end of the month."

Mo'Cha and Freshii are both operated by Sarnia's Moe Deol.

Oosterman said the new restaurants will fill vacated space.

"We did have two restaurants in there, a coffee vendor and more of a hot food service, and both of them have been gone for several months, maybe three or four months or so."

Mo'Cha will offer classic and specialty teas, smoothies, lattes and a variety of hot drinks and dessert items Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Freshii will offer breakfast items, salads, wraps, bowls, burritos, snacks, frozen yogurt and an assortment of beverages from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Bluewater Health said the restaurants were selected through a request for proposal process.
