The Sarnia Police Service seized a number of illegal firearms from a Talfourd Street home.
Members of the Vice Unit were investigating a suspect alleged to be in possession of a number of firearms illegally.
The suspect was taken into custody following a traffic stop at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, and officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Talfourd Street just before 10 p.m.
Police allegedly located a sawed off 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, a CO2 pistol converted to fire live .22 caliber rounds as well as a significant amount of ammunition. Sarnia police also seized a bullet proof vest with no plates.
A 39-year-old Sarnia man faces several charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition and five counts of failing to comply with a release order.
The suspect was being held pending a bail hearing.
