The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations on a local level has gone down slightly.

On Saturday, Bluewater Health reported 51 covid-positive patients in hospital, which is down from 53 reported on Friday. The Sarnia hospital also reported seven covid-positive patients in the ICU.

Across the province, 600 people are in intensive care with the virus. Ontario’s Minister of Health said 81 per cent of patients admitted to the ICU were admitted for COVID-19, while 19 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Lambton Public Health reported 108 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 just before noon on Saturday. The health unit also reported 134 more resolved cases. The active case count is now down to 598.

There have been a total of 8,310 confirmed cases locally since the beginning of the pandemic and 7,611 resolved cases.

The local death toll related to the virus remains at 101. There are also 17 active outbreaks, unchanged from Friday’s report.
