Sting captain involved in 'bittersweet' trade with Storm

The Sarnia Sting have traded captain Brayden Guy and defenceman Ashton Reesor to the Guelph Storm.

Coming back to Sarnia is forward Marko Sikic and a third round pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said in a media release this trade is certainly bittersweet.

"The leadership, character and contributions of both Brayden Guy and Ashton Reesor are second to none.  Through the pandemic they have steered this hockey club and have been nothing but professionals in every way and we wish them all the best in Guelph.”

Guy has spent his entire OHL career in Sarnia, scoring 49 goals and 91 points in 182 games.  The 20-year-old from Brampton was named the Sting's captain in September 2021.

Reesor, 20, tallied three goals and 24 points in 96 games for the Sting.  The Markham native made his OHL debut for Sarnia during the 2017-18 season.

Sikic, 18, has scored five goals and six assists this season, his second in the OHL.  Seca said the 6’3” Kitchener native is someone the Sting have targeted all year.

"Marko has a big body, skates well, and has the skill and hockey sense we value.  On top of that he’s an outstanding young man with elite character and work ethic.  We want to welcome Marko and the rest of the Sikic family to Sarnia.”

The trade marked the second of the day for Sarnia.  The hockey club also acquired Hamilton Bulldogs defenceman Chandler Romeo in exchange for two draft picks.
