LPH reports nearly 150 new COVID cases

Lambton Public Health reported nearly 150 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday.

In its daily update, the health unit reported 144 new confirmed infections, as well as 67 resolved cases, increasing the active case count by 77 to 1,326.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 6,541 lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton, 5,131 recoveries and 84 related deaths.

There are eight long-term care and retirement homes dealing with outbreaks, up one from Wednesday.

The latest was declared at Watford Quality Care Centre.

Bluewater Health is reporting 24 COVID-positive patients in hospital, down two from Wednesday. Two more deaths were also reported at the Sarnia hospital, up to 72 in total.
