Sting set to continue their season Friday night

The Sarnia Sting will keep playing games for the time being.

The OHL has been designated as an elite amateur league by the Ontario government and can continue playing under the latest restrictions.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said they're looking forward to returning to action. The team's last five games were postponed due to COVID concerns surrounding the Sting and opposing teams.

"It's great (to be coming back), it's what we were hoping for," said Seca. "Our guys have gone through and sacrificed a ton, as I know other people in the province have done. These are young athletes who put a lot of time in and it's great that the province is recognizing that for them."

Seca said as of Wednesday, the team is fully healthy.

"We've had some cases, like everyone else we're navigating through it. As of today (Wednesday), we're fully healthy, knock on wood. In time, I'm sure we'll go through other pockets and we'll have to deal with it as it comes our way."

Sarnia returns to action on Friday night at home to the Saginaw Spirit.

Fans will not be allowed to attend under the province's latest guidelines.

In a letter to fans, the team said season ticket holders will be provided with a credit for the games where fans are not allowed to attend. The credit will be held in a season ticket account and can be applied towards playoff tickets or a deposit towards 2022-2023 season tickets. Further details or options will be given at a later date.

All single-game ticket holders will be contacted directly by the ticketing team.

As always, you can hear every Sarnia Sting game on 103.9FM/1070AM CHOK with Leigh Cunningham and Patrick Desrochers.
