Lambton Public Health reported 98 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday morning, along with 26 resolved cases.

The health unit has reported 6,292 infections during the pandemic — 1,322 cases are active, representing more than 20 per cent of the total caseload.

Resolved cases are at 4,886, and active outbreaks have increased from seven to eight.  COVID-related deaths are unchanged at 84.

Bluewater Health is reporting 27 COVID-positive patients in hospital, up from 16 reported on December 31.

Chief of Communications Julia Oosterman told Sarnia News Today that the hospital is seeing a large amount of people being admitted into its COVID unit versus its intensive care unit (ICU).

Oosterman said Bluewater Health has eight COVID patients in its ICU, the majority being unvaccinated against COVID-19.  There are five patients on ventilators.
