Bluewater Health announced that the first baby born in 2022 is a girl.
Baby Rylee was delivered to parents Lara Sazonov and Eric McLaughlin at 11:26 a.m.
She was born several days after her due date of December 29, 2021.
"Best New Year's ever," Sazonov said in an interview.
"It was really quick," she said of the experience. "We were in and out of the hospital in six hours."
Sazonov said she and her partner had no trouble navigating COVID-19 restrictions.
"They're very accommodating to the fact that times have changed and things look a lot different right now. They just do what they can do to make your experience, while you're there, as easy as possible," she said of the maternity staff at Bluewater Health and her midwife team.
According to mom, Rylee weighed 8 lbs 12 oz at birth.
