The City of Sarnia says residents displaced by Sunday night's explosion in Sherwood Village can return home as of 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The incident happened on the main level at 275 Finch Drive near Confederation Street, shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue said there were five people in the first floor apartment unit at the time of the explosion, four of whom were treated on scene by Lambton EMS.
Sarnia police Cst. John Sottosanti said a 47-year-old Sarnia man was taken to Bluewater Health and then transferred to a London hospital.
He said the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office has been notified and the cause of the explosion is under investigation.
Out of an abundance of caution, residents in all 81 units were evacuated.
Sarnia's Emergency Management Coordinator Ron Realesmith said tenants of the building were set up with a place to stay at Lambton College.
"Emergency management opened our reception centre at Lambton College and we've been receiving people here all night," said Realesmith.
The Sarnia Humane Society has also been notified and was making accommodations for those with pets.
