Active COVID-19 cases, outbreaks increase in Sarnia-Lambton

The number of active COVID-19 outbreaks in the region has increased to four.

Lambton Public Health had previously reported outbreaks at Generations Day Care and at an unspecified workplace. Details of the two latest outbreaks have yet to be posted to the health unit's website but an update is expected on Monday.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has reported cases at two Sarnia-Lambton schools. St. John Fisher Catholic School in Forest has two confirmed student cases and St. Anne Catholic School in Sarnia has five student cases. Both schools remain open. As of Friday, no student cases were reported at public schools in Sarnia-Lambton but a staff case was reported at King George VI Public in School.

Lambton Public Health reported 13 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday and seven resolved cases. The active case count has increased to 53.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 4,419 confirmed cases in the region and 4,288 resolved cases.

The local death toll remains at 78.

COVID-19 vaccines will be administered to young children at two community clinics on Saturday. Rapids Family Health Team will see children aged five to 11 by appointment only, while another appointment-based clinic is held at the Lambton College Event Centre.
