Footprints found in snow following overnight thefts

City police are working to reunite some Sarnia residents with their stolen property after a string of vehicles and garages were broken into Saturday night.

The Sarnia Police Service received numerous calls from residents in the area of Northern High School and Rosedale Public School Sunday morning.

Police said footprints were found in the snow, going from vehicle to vehicle, as the culprits searched for unlocked cars or open doors.

As thieves moved along their path, police said they discarded any items that weren't of interest to them.

A number of those items were recovered, including; first aid kits, sunglasses, paperwork and small pouches.

Sarnia police are encouraging anyone missing items to give Constable Scott Oosterhof a call at 519-344-8861.

Anyone who may have video surveillance cameras in the area that captured suspicious persons on them overnight, is also asked to call city police headquarters.

Police said the images may help them identify suspects.
