Weather advisory in effect for Sarnia-Lambton

Driving conditions may be questionable this weekend as the region gets its first snowfall event of the season.

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Sarnia, Petrolia, and western Lambton County as a band of snow is expected to move across the region late Saturday afternoon into the evening.

The national weather agency said the snowfall event will likely impact road conditions.

West Region OPP responded to about 65 collisions Friday morning due to poor weather conditions.

The areas under an advisory are expected to get up to five centimetres of snow before it tapers off Saturday night. Another two to four centimetres is expected Sunday afternoon into Sunday night.

Motorists are reminded to adjust driving habits with changing road conditions and to be extra cautious in affected areas.

Nearby regions such as Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex are also under an advisory.
