Red kettles return to Sarnia-Lambton

Red kettles will once again be stationed throughout the community during the holiday season.

Sarnia's Salvation Army will kick off its Christmas Kettle campaign on Thursday, November 18.

Salvation Army Lieutenant Brad Webster said this year's fundraising goal is $140,000, just like last year.

The organization is hopeful for another successful year after last year's campaign raised $166,360.

"Last year we were kind of iffy in our climate that we were living in and we managed to surpass the goal and I'm very confident in our community to support [us] again this year," said Webster. "I'm sure we'll either meet it or surpass it once again."

Kettles will be out on Fridays and Saturdays during the month of November and in December, they'll be out Mondays through Saturdays until Christmas Eve.

"That money will stay within the community and go towards providing for programs and our food bank that helps out the community year-round," said Webster.

In order to fundraise, the Salvation Army is in need of kettle volunteers to sign up for two-hour shifts at various retail locations. Those interested in helping are asked to call or text (519) 997-0750 or email sasarniakettles@gmail.com.
