Local COVID death toll at 74

There has been another COVID-19 death in Sarnia-Lambton.

In its daily update, Lambton Public Health reported the death toll has risen to 74.

Communications Chief at Bluewater Health Julia Oosterman said the man, in his 80s, is the 59th related death at the hospital.

She said there are four COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, none of them are in the ICU.

Lambton Public Health reported three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, up to 4,288 since March 2020. There were four more cases deemed resolved for a total of 4,177, lowering the active case count by two to 37.

There are four active outbreaks, unchanged from Tuesday and Bluewater Health had four COVID-positive patients in hospital, down two.

The local incidence rate per 100,000 population dropped to 29.8 for the week of November 7 to 13, down from 42.8 the week before. The positivity rate is also lower at 2.2 per cent from 3.8 per cent.

To date, 81.2 per cent of eligible area residents aged 12 and up are fully vaccinated, while 84.1 per cent have had one dose of a vaccine.
