The Sarnia Sting were unable to complete their third win in a row and fell to the Windsor Spitfires Friday night 7-3 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Nolan Dann scored the first goal of the night for the Sting with assists from Nolan Burke and Cameron Supryka.
The Spits scored two goals in the first period. Ashton Reesor scored the Sting's second goal of the night to even out the first period with two goals each.
However, Windsor scored five goals in the second and third periods. Sarnia was unable to make a comeback. Nolan Dann scored again for Sarnia in the third with assists from Nolan Dillingham and Max Namestnikov.
In a post game interview, Head Coach Alan Letang said the team played really well in the first period but didn't match the opposing team's stamina during the rest of the game.
"They raised their level in the second period and we were scared to match it," said Letang. "We were afraid or we didn't want to commit... We thought 'okay, this the best we've got tonight' or maybe 'this is all I'm willing to give tonight' and it showed."
The Sting will be back on the ice Saturday night to play the Saginaw Spirit.
"You can't dwell on what happened [Friday] because it's too late now. We've got to find a way to get two points in Saginaw and keep moving up in the standings and keep hanging in with all of those other teams that are getting points," said Letang. "It's too early to scoreboard watch but you still have to gather points."
Sarnia beat Saginaw last weekend 3-2 in the back end of a home-and-home series.
Moving forward, Letang said the Sting's commitment and effort needs to improve.
