Christmas will be in the air on December 5 when the Sarnia Sting play the Kitchener Rangers, or at least a few stuffed bears.
It's the 24th annual Teddy Bear Toss Game.
Lambton Ford organizer Rob Ravensberg said there's a greater need in the community.
"The best part of the Teddy Bear toss is being able to meet as many charities as we do, there's at least 14 each year," he said.
Since its inception the annual event has collected over 70,000 stuffed toys. Ravensberg is hoping at least 3,000 bears will hit the ice of the Progressive Auto Sales Arena this year.
"We always need to be around 3,000, that's an automatic goal. But I think the other goal is to break and exceed our record of 4,300 in a single year [2017]".
Fans will toss stuffed toys onto the ice when the Sting score their first goal against the Rangers.
"If we get a great crowd, with everyone participating, I think we can definitely beat that record. And I know with what's been going on the last little while there's more need. So I think that's another big benefit and should be motivation for all of us to work together. Let's set a new record and really help everyone out that could really benefit at this time."
