A mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic is set to make some stops in Sarnia-Lambton.
The province's GO-VAXX mobile clinic will be in Sarnia October 29 and 30, in Mooretown on October 31, and in Petrolia November 1.
Lambton Public Health Family Health Manager Kevin Churchill said it's basically a rolling vaccine clinic on a bus.
"And they've been doing this for a couple of months in other areas of the province, and they're taking a swing through southwestern Ontario and we're very pleased that we have some stops on the route."
Churchill said the bus will be set up in the Canadian Tire parking lot at Lambton Mall Friday, October 29 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., outside Food Basics on Indian Road Saturday, October 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Mooretown Sports Complex Sunday, October 31 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and at the Petrolia Farmer’s Market Pavilion Monday, November 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"We have had clinics at Lambton Mall, but the other three locations are places that don't currently have regular clinics. So, it's an opportunity for the people who live in those areas, certainly if transportation is an issue, to be able to access a vaccine right in their home neighbourhood or community."
Churchill said the health unit has been doing some of its own mobile outreach as well.
"But you can imagine that a large city bus has a bit more capacity than we can do. So, they can do up to 160 doses on every stop," he said. "We're at the point in this vaccine rollout that every dose will help us get towards our goal of 90 per cent fully vaccinated."
Churchill said Lambton Public Health is still operating vaccinations clinic in Point Edward on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at the Lambton Shores Rec Centre every Wednesday. He said there are still plenty of opportunities to get vaccinated and that residents don't need to wait for the bus to come.
The buses are fully accessible and no appointment is necessary. Residents looking to receive a vaccine are reminded to bring their health card.
Earlier this week, the province said the GO-VAXX clinics had now administered more than 10,000 vaccine doses since two buses hit the road in mid-August and a third in early September.
