Kinsmen to hold another drive-thru Santa Claus Parade

Residents are being encouraged to "Support our local Sarnia food banks" this holiday season.

That's the theme of this year's Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade, which is marking its 40th year.

Past President Bob Marks said it's going to be held drive-thru style once again at Lambton College.

"We were discouraged from trying to do a parade downtown because of the COVID crowds that would have come out," said Marks. "We'll be collecting grocery items, sanitary products, and even cash."

Last year, $10,000 was collected for local charities, over 4,120 pounds of groceries and nonperishable items were brought in (valued at $12,000), and hundreds of teddy bears were given to children in need.

Charities benefitting included the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and River City Vineyard.

The parade is set for November 27 from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
