SLEP accepting grant applications for Digital Main Street program

Local small businesses are being given the chance to create or boost their online presence to become more competitive.

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is again accepting funding applications under the popular Digital Main Street Ontario program.

Communications Project Manager Aaron Zimmer said grants of $2,500 are available, and their Digital Service Squad is also offering guidance and training.

"People are shopping more online than ever before," said Zimmer. "We don't want anyone to be left behind saying 'oh I wish there was an opportunity for me to do this', well here we are offering it. We're offering $2,500 to buy what you need to get you going. That could be a website domain or equipment, or anything a business needs."

The program is available to permanent brick and mortar establishments that employ up to 50 people, are a registered Ontario business, pay commercial property tax or rent, and are open to the public for on site purchases.

Franchises, wholesalers, manufacturers, non-profit, home and online businesses, and previous grant recipients are not eligible to participate.

The application deadline is November 30.
