London edges Sarnia in OT thriller

The London Knights beat the Sarnia Sting 5-4 in overtime.

The Knights were lead by winger Colton Smith, who scored the natural hat trick, scoring London's first three goals.

London and Sarnia ended the first period tied at one on special teams goals. Smith scoring on the power play for London and the Sting's Braden Guy scoring short handed.

In the second period, London took a commanding lead. Smith scored the next two London goals to make it 3-1. Then Sean McGurn scored at the 9:15 mark on the power play to give the Knight's a 4-1 lead.

Then cue the Sarnia push back. Ty Voit scored at 16:04 of the second to make it 4-2.

In the third, Nolan Burke scored twice, about eight minutes apart, to tie the game at four.

The game would slide into overtime and Knights' forward Sean McGurn scored the winner at 3:26 of OT.

London goalie Brett Brochu made 29 saves while Sting goalie Benjamin Gaudreau stopped 32 shots.

Both teams will play their next games on Friday, October 22 with the Knights hosting the Owen Sound Attack and the Sting hosting the Guelph Storm.
