Lambton OPP stop six stunt drivers over holiday weekend

Several drivers temporarily lost their licence for pushing a little too hard on the gas.

Lambton OPP over the Thanksgiving long weekend charged six motorists with stunt driving.

Police said one driver was clocked at over double the speed limit on Oil Heritage Road Saturday afternoon, travelling 115 kilometres an hour in a 50 zone.

Police are reminding motorists that stiffer penalties for stunt driving and racing took effect over the summer.

Motorists caught driving 40 kilometres an hour over the speed limit, if the limit is less than 80 kilometres an hour, can be charged with stunt driving.

Vehicles can also be impounded on the spot for 14 days, up from seven and your driver's licence will be suspended for 30 days.
