Several post-secondary students have received a financial boost through scholarships awarded by the Lambton Federation of Agriculture.

The $2,000 Joyce Anderson Scholarship was presented to Nicholas Gerrits, who lives near Wyoming. He is enrolled in the Plant Biotechnology program at the University of Manitoba.

The $1,000 Bill and Dorothy Abraham Scholarship was initially awarded to a Warwick Township student, however, a decision to not attend the fall semester meant the student didn't receive the LFA scholarship.

Emily Griffin who lives near Sarnia was awarded the Patrick and Timothy Kerrigan Scholarship worth $1,000. She was previously the president of the South Lambton 4-H Dairy Club but is currently studying business administration with an emphasis on accounting at Lambton College.

She is enrolled in her fourth year at the University of Guelph and is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Meantime, a Bell Two Scholarship, also worth $1,000, was awarded to Sarah Hayter of Alvinston. She is entering her second year of the Food and Agriculture Business Co-op program at the University of Guelph.

The Lois Wakefield Scholarship worth $1,000 was awarded to Nikki Boere who lives in Warwick Township. She is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Nursing program at McMaster University.

There were no qualifying applicants to receive the $1,000 Don McCabe Scholarship.

The above scholarships are awarded to students who are from a family that is actively farming in Lambton County.

The LFA also awarded two scholarships worth $2,000 each on behalf of Lambton County Council.

Bill Weber had previously directed funds raised from a 2019 golf tournament to LFA to offer scholarships to graduate students registered in a master's or doctorate program in the agricultural field.

Warden's Scholarships were presented to Nathan Wilson, who was raised near Wyoming, and Hannah Symington, who lives near Watford.

Symington is enrolled in the master's program in Weed Science at the Ridgetown Campus of the University of Guelph. Wilson, who was presented with the scholarship in January, is studying to obtain a Ph.D. from Lakehead University in the Environmental Biotechnology program.
