Bright's Grove pollinator garden helping bee population

A newly installed pollinator garden in Bright's Grove is helping the local bee population thrive.

The garden, at St. John in the Wilderness Church, contains all native species and supports two nearby hives.

Warden Peter Langille said it's been successful so far.

"They're certainly being supported by the flowers and the plants that are in the pollinator garden," said Langille. "The beekeepers, who are the experts, say those two hives are doing extremely well. Over the past weekend, we sold off some of the honey as a way to support the church, and it's been a very successful project."

Langille said the garden was made possible through a $2,500 donation from the Anglican Church Foundation of Canada.

Bishop of Huron Todd Townsend will be at the church, at 2896 Old Lakeshore Rd. on Saturday at 10 a.m. for a special blessing ceremony.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
