Diversity Ed. to host all-candidates meeting

Federal candidates campaigning in the Sarnia-Lambton riding have been invited to take part in an all-candidates meeting hosted by Diversity Ed. - Safer Spaces Canada.

Susan Chamberlain will moderate Tuesday night's meeting.

Questions will delve into each platform in regards to the needs of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and beyond) community. A couple of questions will focus on the practice of conversion therapy and protections for queer and trans refugees.

“Queer and Trans activists continue to push for an end to legislative discrimination, meaningful 2SLGBTQQIA+ specific services, and action on desperately needed safety and security,” read a release from Diversity Ed. "Queer and Trans people have a higher rate of poverty, unemployment, and suicide than their non-queer and trans peers."

The Sarnia-Lambton all-candidates meeting will be broadcast for public viewing on Facebook Live on September 14 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Candidates will attend the meeting in-person at the Diversity Ed. location in Sarnia.

Sarnia-Lambton candidates include incumbent Marilyn Gladu of the Conservative Party, NDP candidate Adam Kilner, Liberal candidate Lois Nantais, Green Party candidate Stefanie Bunko, PPC candidate Brian Everaert, and CHP candidate Tom Laird. Candidate profiles can be found by clicking, here.
