Collisions lead to impaired driving charges

Sarnia police laid two impaired driving charges following separate single-vehicle collisions Friday.

At around 6:50 p.m., police were called about an erratic vehicle that struck a median on London Line, deflating both passenger side tires.

Police said the suspect vehicle parked in the Walmart parking lot on Quinn Drive before it left the lot and was located by officers.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from Corunna, was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he blew over twice the legal limit.

At around 10:15 p.m., police were called about a crash involving a motorcycle in the area of Waterworks Road and John Street.

When officers arrived on scene, the motorcycle was lying on its side with significant damage -- Lambton EMS attended to the driver.

Police said the driver, who had no significant injuries, was showing signs of impairment and was arrested.

The 37-year-old Sarnia man was taken to police headquarters where he blew over twice the legal limit.

Both of the accused are charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus. Both also face a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and their vehicles will be impounded for seven days.
