Sarnia-Lambton surpasses 175K doses of COVID-19 vaccine

Over 175,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across Sarnia-Lambton since the vaccination rollout started in late January.

Lambton Public Health reported on Wednesday that a total of 175,332 doses have been given by the health unit, hospitals, pharmacies and primary care physicians, up from 172,948 total doses reported last week. There have been 90,782 first doses administered to date, up from 89,615 reported last week.

Fully vaccinated adults now make up 74.1 per cent of the eligible population, up from 73.2 per cent last week, and just over 79 per cent have received one shot.

The health unit reported no new cases of the virus Wednesday, and the caseload since the start of the pandemic was holding at 3,698. The number of cases considered resolved increased by one to 3,619, lowering the number of active infections by one to 10.

Bluewater Health had no COVID-19 positive patients in hospital.

The community's rate of infection per 100,000 population was 6.1 for the week of August 29 to September 4, down from 12.2 the week before.
