Lambton College mandates COVID-19 vaccines across campus

Lambton College has extended its COVID-19 vaccine policy to include all students, faculty, staff, contractors and guests this fall.

President and CEO Rob Kardas said proof of vaccination against the virus will be required for anyone accessing the campus beginning August 31, 2021.

“Throughout the pandemic, we’ve had two priorities at Lambton College, to protect the health and safety of our college and surrounding community, and provide students with the richest possible college experience,” said Kardas. “This vaccine mandate allows us to continue to do both to the best of our ability."

A first dose of vaccine, authorized for use by Health Canada, is required by August 31, 2021 and a second by October 11, 2021.

Kardas said the college is working with Lambton Public Health to host vaccine clinics on campus in September.

He said exemption requests will also be considered.

"Whether they have a medical issue, or it's due to religion or creed. In terms of individuals who are not exempt for those reasons, that's one of the things we're consulting on now."

Kardas said more details will be shared in that respect this week.

The college announced earlier this month that students who want to live in residence will need at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by August 30.
