Sarnia filmmaker releases first feature film

A local filmmaker has released his first ever feature film.

Inner Earth Attacks: A Love Story, is an independent comedy/ horror movie made by Sarnia's Sean Johnson.

Johnson, who manages Film Schtuff Inc., said it follows the story of a young couple navigating through a post-apocalyptic world.

He said he drew inspiration from some of his favourite movies.

"It's kind of always been my favourite genre," said Johnson. "I look at movies like Evil Dead, Terror Firmer, and Toxic Avenger and they really kind of inspired me. They're my kind of humour where you get kind of the Three Stooges with blood... some slapstick over the top humour. I find it goes well together. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think the two genres can really mix well actually."

Johnson said the movie was mostly shot in Sarnia-Lambton, and features places like the former Sarnia General Hospital, former Taco Bell, and the old Murray Street school in Corunna.

He said it took about three years to make because of some roadblocks, including COVID.

It can be purchased on DVD at The Cave on Davis Street, or viewed on the streaming service Troma Now.
