Sarnia-Lambton COVID caseload up four

Lambton Public Health reported four new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.

It's the first time since last Thursday there has been a new case reported in Sarnia-Lambton.

In its daily update, the health unit said that since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 3,637 confirmed cases of the virus. The number of resolved cases is unchanged at 3,563, increasing the number of active infections to six.

There are no active outbreaks, and Bluewater Health had no COVID-positive patients in hospital.

The rate of infection per 100,000 population was 3.1 for the week of July 18 to 24, down from 4.6 the week before. The positivity rate went up slightly to 0.36 per cent from 0.34 per cent.

Just under 76 per cent of eligible adults have had one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and just under 66 per cent are fully vaccinated.
