Charges have been laid after Sarnia police were called about a possible firearm at a local motel.
Officers were called to the 1600 block of London Line on Sunday. The alleged firearm turned out to be a pellet gun that was holstered in the man's waistband.
However, during a search, police seized a small quantity of fentanyl and a knife that could easily be opened by flicking it with one finger.
A 37-year-old Sarnia man was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of possession of a controlled substance (Schedule I).
The accused has a court date scheduled for September 7 at the Sarnia Courthouse.
Sarnia police are reminding the public that carrying replica firearms can cause public concern and should be kept unloaded and out of sight when transporting.
