LPH reports another COVID-19 death

For the second day in a row, Lambton Public Health is reporting a COVID-19 death.

The health unit said the individual in their 80s passed away in hospital.

It's the 67th death linked to the virus in Sarnia-Lambton, since the pandemic started in March 2020, and the 53rd related death at Bluewater Health.

Lambton Public Health reported no change to the caseload Wednesday, sitting at 3,632.

The number of resolved cases increased by one to 3,562, lowering the active case count by two to three.

There are no active outbreaks, and Bluewater Health has no COVID-positive patients in hospital, down one from Tuesday.

In its daily update, the health unit reported the rate of infection per 100,000 population was 4.6 for the week of July 11 to 17, down significantly from 11.5 the week before. The positivity rate also dropped to 0.34 per cent from 0.95.

About 75 per cent of adults have had one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and just under 61 per cent are fully vaccinated.
